Saint Silvanus Alderain, born Sylvaal Deorneul, was the 17th king of Riene, succeeding Albion the Unbound.

Story[]

Silvanus was known as an honest king. However, his son believed that one could rule with fear and amassed power through guile and deception. Once Jeremia had acquired enough sway over the masses, he attempted to have his father killed. Silvanus was warned, however, by the scientist Aeon Digeros. Together, they and the royal huntsman, Agnar, began to instigate an insurrection. To counter this, Jeremia hired an assassins guild to eliminate his father and his allies. These assassins were defeated and killed one by one. Finally, Jeremia came to confront his father personally and, in a duel, killed him. While Randias fled and disappeared, Jeremia offered Digeros a chance to redeem himself which he eagerly accepted.

Before the Throne[]

Before he was named king of Vangloria, Silvanus was merely a knight in Sandoril's army and helped to conquer much of what would become the Vanglorian Empire. At the onset of the Melioregic Era, Silvanus became an essential player in the Summoning Wars. Therein, he met and married the "Ice Goddess", Bryn Forsythia.

Born the son of Seyal of the Signfrici, son of Valsnir and the shapeshifter Vetra, Sylvaal inherited the Wraith sword from his father and won Arterius, the ring of restoration, from the dark dragon Viviander. He befriended the horse Niagra and had many adventures.

The name Deorneul loosely translates as "dark cloud."
