Shadows Jubilee is the first official installment of EtC although there are two prequels in development. Development of Shadows Jubilee began in 2006.
The basic premise of Shadows Jubilee is the existence of a group of supernaturally gifted individuals organized into a group known as the Shrouders whose purpose remains obscured. They are opposed by the Knights and the Acolytes.
Story
Protagonist Nexus is sent to negotiate a treaty with the Knights and the Acolytes. While the diplomatic Acolytes are receptive to the proposition, the militant Knights take the opportunity to interrogate Nexus about the Shrouders. He is rescued by fellow Shrouder, Xikur.
Sensing familiarity in Rachael Lasan, an Acolyte he'd met upon first arrival at the Chapel, Nexus returns against Xikur's warnings. The more time they spend together, the more Nexus feels as though he remembers her.
When word of a large weapon reaches the Shrouders, it isn't long before they realize the Knights are responsible. Wary of their intentions, the Shrouders decide to make a first strike before the Knights can make a display of their power.
Although Jeriko agrees to let Nexus request assistance from the Acolytes, Rasandiel refuses. However, Michael, the Acolytes' resident hero, decides on his own to assist the Shrouders and is joined by Rachael, Izzikiel, and Gavael.
