Saffire is a member of the Gundogs with a fairly straightforward and belligerent approach to situations. She is more than a little tomboyish which she is glad is accepted by Knight for whom she has mutual affections.
She later learns her name is Kira and she is the daughter of Aoi Raiden.
The Birth of Starling
It may not be entirely surprising that an energy-based elemental such as Saffire could potentially assume a myriad of forms, as proven when she took on a form of pure energy in order to power a small town for several years. When she and Sylvie are captured by the Machine and their respective powers are tapped by their nefarious generators, the girls are seemingly killed. However, when a woman appears out of a bolt of lightning having blue-silver hair, it is soon realized that the deceased girls now inhabit one body.
Saffire is about 6'2" with long cobalt-blue hair in a ponytail and amber eyes. She is a tanned Samoan usually seen to be wearing a violet-blue motorcycle suit that is form-fitting.
Saffire is electrokinetic, possessing the ability to manipulate energy in its base electrical form.
Saffire can generate an electrical shock from her own body making it difficult for enemies to get a hold on her without knocking her out.
In its more known sense allowing her to magnetize herself to metal or magnetize metals to each other if temporarily. This word also is used to explain her ability to form lightning from available sources such as powerlines, nearby machines, and electrical storms.
Saffire can move nearly as fast as Sylvie. Riene speculates that this is accomplished by transmitting her subatomic structure through "electrical byways" which is basically the atmosphere. He further theorizes that she could attain a clarity similar to Sylvie's own if she could develop communication with the energy she controls. Saffire finds this theory to be total hocus pocus.
Saffire's design was based on Leona from the King of Fighters series.
