Caleb is introduced at the beginning of the series. He is truly unique among the group.
Later when Caleb's self-inflicted experimentation turns him into a veritable transformer, his humanity dwindles to next to non-existence and it becomes apparent that he is not actually a product of Deoxycorp. In fact, he is a spy comprised of nanotechnology whose original orders are programmed to remain dormant while he establishes himself in the Gundogs' social network.
No information exists regarding Caleb's past. The branch of Deoxycorp in which he developed his powers remains a mystery even to him. The group found him in the London branch, but he appeared to be there of his own will. Though he initially had no designation, he eventually took the name Caleb as a moniker.
Caleb is a fabricated construct entirely composed of Automa's experimental nanites reverse-engineered from the technology Deoxycorp uses to develop its super-soldiers. Caleb's original purpose is to study the Gundogs and attain the secret of their abilities. He is also programmed to destroy them under the right circumstances.
Caleb is 6'6" with buzzed steel-gray hair and silver-gray irises. His pallor hints at genetic ties to Caucasian and African parents. He usually wears a pair of gray jeans, a white tanktop, and a button shirt.
Caleb is extremely talented in invention. He is able to understand the nature of mechanical constructs at a glance and theorize ways in which to combine technology into unimaginable devices.
Caleb is a master of polarity, being able to levitate and manipulate anything composed of metal. Despite this, his control varies dependent upon the atomic weight of the metal. He has an easier time manipulating ferric metals.
- His chosen name, Caleb, in Hebrew means "Whole-hearted; faithful". It is also a pun denoting the Greek word chalybs, the original name for steel.
